30 for 30 winter :: no. 3.

navy collared shirt: old navy
gray undershirt: liz lange maternity for target
woven belt: thrifted
brown pants: liz lange maternity for target
fake ugg boots: target
scarf: handmade by my gramma
hidden: thermal leggings and thigh high socks, both from target

it is still freezing. we ended up having a delayed start, but i am teaching today. the highest goal of this outfit was warmth. there are a couple layers you can't see because of that priority. my favorite thing about this ensemble is the scarf. my gramma made it for me from this super cool ribbon yarn, and it's totally my favorite thing.

a bit about what to expect in my remix:

we are required to wear solid tops with collars and solid bottoms to school. yes, a uniform(ish). because of this dress code, my outfits on tuesday, wednesday and thursday will be solid colors and include a collar of some sort. an open jacket (that stays on all day) over a solid-colored shirt is acceptable. sundays' and mondays' outfits will feature what i wore to church. i'm making friday my off day since school dress code that day is jeans and spirit shirts (tee or sweat). saturday will be for whatever happens to be going down that day. in addition, i have a couple of cute date outfits coming since landon's 31st birthday and valentine's day fall in the remix time frame. if i stay on track, i should complete the challenge on march 6.

i bought kendi's ebook about how to remix as well as read this great post over at work with what you've got (she used kendi's book, too) just as i was getting started this time around. while a tad tedious, the process kendi uses totally makes the 30 for 30 seem doable. i'm not as organized as kendi or erin (another fellow texan!), but i'm feeling a lot more confident than i did this summer. i'm actually going to make it.

30 item list tonight. pinky swear.

30 for 30 winter :: no. 2.

it's an icicle wonderland outside. we are off from school. staying inside all day when it's real cold outside makes me very sleepy. this is my excuse for why i didn't clean the mirror before i took these photos. also, i thought baby-splashed water streaks added a certain originality to the outfit.

still working on my 30 items post.

hope you are warm.

emerald sweater: target
black cardigan: old navy
black ponte pencil skirt: j.c. penny (i think)
tall, striped socks: target
black motorcycle boots: target

tissue anyone?
my pleasure.
please. ignore my weird pregnant butt in this photo.
what? you didn't know your butt could be pregnant?
it can.

19 weeks, 1 day.

if there's anyone out there reading this who plans to respond (DUDE. have you seen the remix list that kendi just posted? holy millions of remixers.), tell me what you think of this pregnant version of wearing a pencil skirt. it isn't a maternity skirt, just a couple sizes too big. does it look weird?

30 for 30 winter :: no. 1.

i'm taking on kendi's 30 for 30 challenge again. last time, i failed miserably. i made it to six outfits. i WILL make it all the way this time, no matter how long it takes. i'm also hoping to get some better-than-cell-phone-in-the-mirror shots, but there's no way i'll get those every day. i'm OK with that.

here's no. 1. i'll post my 30 pieces soon.

blue dress: nordstrom
gray & navy striped cardigan: forever 21
denim leggings: target
gray booties: forever 21
yellow butterfly belt: etsy
bracelet: friend's jewelry party
cognac bag (last photo): fossil via goodwill ($1.99!!!)

30 for 30: the goods.

30 for 30 Banner

today marks day 1 of the 30 for 30 remix challenge hosted by kendi everyday. kendi is an unbelievably adorable fellow texan, and is the fashion blogger to whom i'm most loyal. her photos are to-die-for good, but i think her hilariously sarcastic commentary is what keeps me coming back.

the basic gist of the challenge is that you choose 30 items from your closet to remix into different combinations for 30 days. kendi says accessories like jewelry, belts and scarves don't count, and i refuse to argue.

when i first started picking my items, 30 seemed like a lot. then i hung them all together. it looks like a very small amount of clothes for an entire month. but, that's why it's a challenge, right? along with the remix challenge is a challenge to abstain from shopping for 30 days. that will be nothing but good for my bank account. additional bonus: way less laundry.

below is some evidence that i have selected 30 things from my wardrobe. i decided not to do more detailed photographs because 1.) it takes too long and 2.) you'll see each piece many times over the next 30 days!

first outfit coming up later tonight.

wish me luck!

here are my choices.

4 dresses
4 skirts
2 pairs of shorts
2 pairs of jeans
1 pair of denim leggings
1 pair of dress pants
2 tank tops
7 tops
1 cardigan
1 jacket
5 pairs of shoes
